The perfect wedding location is hard to achieve. Everyone has a slightly different idea about what they want out of a wedding location, whether that means looking for somewhere that is accessible and affordable, through to money being not an issue in terms of extravagance. Some locations can provide a balance between the two, providing you’re able to book far in advance. Others are simply recommended for being excellent value for their boutique status. From boutique hotels in Paris to castles in Scotland, some of the most ideal wedding locations include:
1 - Half Moon, Jamaica
This Jamaican resort is one of the best wedding destinations in the Caribbean. Located in Montego Bay, Half Moon caters to guests of around 30, and puts on a whole wedding package around its white sand beaches. The ceremony can be held next to waterfalls, tropical gardens, or on the beach, and can be combined with an overnight stay in a private villa. The combination of beaches and tropical weather, as well as a luxury service, means that Jamaica represents, along with St. Lucia, one of the best places to visit for a Caribbean wedding.
2 - Le Chateau d’Esclimont, France
Anyone who’s ever dreamed of their own fairytale wedding should look into Le Chateau d’Esclimont in France. A castle located within a short drive from Paris, the venue’s location around a 150 acre estate and woodland makes it private enough to transport the wedding party to another era. Views from the chateau cover the moat and the local forest. The chateau itself provides a full hotel experience, with an on site restaurant, and a wide range of suites available for a wedding party.
3 - Dalhousie Castle, Scotland
Another popular castle location for a wedding, Dalhousie Castle in Scotland is just on the edge of Edinburgh, and offers a suitably luxurious destination for the event. The Castle serves award winning food, can cater for parties up to 100, and hosts civil ceremonies and other events through its private chapel. And to top it off, you have the option of your ring being delivered to the chapel by an owl.
4 - Burgh Island, Devon
Unique in the sense of being part of a 26 acre island that is only accessible at high tide, Burgh Island’s art deco hotel has been open since 1929, and was recently restored to its Jazz Age splendour in 2006. The hotel isn’t cheap as a wedding location, but can handle about 60 people, with the option to book out the whole hotel for the party. Famous guests in the past have included Agatha Christie and Noel Coward, with the hotel also providing views out over the nearby Devon beaches.
5 - Amalfi Coast
The Amalfi Coast in Italy has long been a popular destination for wedding planners. Covering towns and villages like Ravello and Positano on its sloped hills, the Amalfi Coast can also be used as a base for exploring nearby islands such as Capri. In terms of being a wedding destination, the Mediterranean coast has many villas and hotels that are ideal for ceremonies and parties. Particularly recommended are clifftop hotels like the Casa Angelina and Palazzo Sasso.
