Update: The Giveaway Winners are AyeScarlett & Summer!
I am so excited to share an interview with Taylor Dean! She is the author of Lancaster House and Sierra, with several more books in the works. Want to learn more about her? Be sure to read the interview, then enter the giveaway to win copies of Lancaster House and Sierra!
1) When did you begin writing? I began writing in 2006, although my storieshad been in my head for years beforehand. I actually wrote the first ten pagesof Sierra about twenty years ago! Back then my children were youngand I simply didn’t have time to write. But, my stories were constantly in myhead as if they were begging to be written. Now that I’ve written them, I’mfree and I no longer think about them!
2) What would you say is the biggest inspiration behind Lancaster House? Sierra? Lancaster House came about when my daughter asked me to write aparanormal story. It’s her favorite genre. I told her I didn’t want to writeanything paranormal. After much coercion, I promised to think about a story. The thing that sparked my creative juices was quite unexpected. I was watchingthe American Idol season 8 finale when Adam Lambert sang his rendition of “MadWorld” on a fog shrouded stage, wearing vampire-like garb. This visual set myimagination on fire! What if I met an otherworldly being on my staircase? Whatif I fell in love with him? What if he fell in love with me? What if no onebelieved me? You get the idea. From this, Lancaster House was born!
Sierra was inspired by the true story of Olympic medalist, Kari Swenson.Years ago I watched the TV movie of her ordeal entitled, Abduction. It sparked a “what if” scenario in my mind. What if the kidnapping had been successful? What if she was taken deep into the woods? What if she was rescued there? What if she had to stay with her rescuer throughout the winter? What if they fell in love? The concept that happiness awaits us after we endure trials in our lives intrigues me.
3) Where is your favorite place to write? In my office at my desktop. I don’t likedistractions. I work in silence and let my mind become completely absorbed inmy story.
That being said . . . once I accompanied my husband on a business trip to Santa Fe. I worked in the hotel room from my laptop while sitting by the kiva style fireplace. Bliss.
4) What would your #1 tip be for anyone hoping to write a book someday? Don’t let rejection deter you from your dream. Keep working, keep movingforward. Never give up. Believe in yourself and refuse to listen to the umpteenpeople who will tell you NO.
5) What's your favorite pastime/hobby? Pastime: reality TV. American Idol, Dancing with the Stars, So you thinkyou can Dance, Survivor, X-Factor, Bachelor/Bachelorette, The Apprentice. Pathetic, really.
Hobby: I’m an obsessive scrapbooker.
My Reviews:
In Lancaster house, you will follow the story of Zoe. With a broken heart and troubling past she hopes to find a clean start with the purchase of her dream home.
As she begins the process of restoration, quirky things start happening around the home. The more she searches for answers the more danger she seems to find around each corner.
Is there more to the house than what meats the eye? Or is she losing her mind?
An engaging tale of love, suspense and mystery.
My Rating: ♥♥♥♥
Alyssa Fontaine is blissfully happy. On vacation with her husband and young son she has little knowledge of the horror that awaits.
A kidnapping, a murder, a dangerous journey...will she ever find happiness again?
A story of heartbreak, triumph and finding hope amidst trials. A thrilling read filled with romance, suspense and mystery.
My rating: ♥♥♥♥
