I love this image. I took it for a daily assignment challenge on Flickr. Anyway, I chose my golden books because they are very dear to me. My grandma had a stack of them in "my room" at her house. Since then, I've been busy trying to re-collect my favorite titles. One of them being "The Pokey" Puppy. I found it, thanks to a local flea market. I love thrifting for classic titles and children's literature. Kiddie books are some of my fav!!
Before I list the books I've been reading, I'd love to ask a favor. Would you share with many any "page turning" books that you've read lately? I'm getting ready for vacation and want to stock up on a few titles. Fiction or non-fiction, doesn't matter! Who knows, even if I can't get to the titles right away, I may find time in the near future! :) Okay, so on to a few quick reviews...
This little book was an endearing read. There's a dark secrete hidden in a series of letters. All of which comes to light as their children read through them. I appreciated the focus on forgiveness, but I was a bit startled as the truth came out. A strange, bittersweet tale.
Choosing To See follows the story of the Chapman family. From the beginning stages of their love story to the loss of their daughter, I laughed and cried my way through the book. This is a keeper on my book shelves and I plan to gift it to many friends in the future!
The jury is still out on this one: truth is, I just don't know what to think about it. Yes, I enjoyed parts of the book. Yes, I enjoyed hearing tid bits from that era. But, the ending? So tragic. Just...completely tragic. Perhaps that is the draw of this book that many find endearing. There's no fairy tale ending. I liked the book, until the final pieces started coming together. Then, I was just angry. So yeah, this book is A+ if you like your blood boiling! Great writing.
