In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

This morning, I had a happy post lined up. But, I decided to scratch that. A happier than thou post would be fake, because today...I'm feeling a little rough around the edges. I wish I could say that everything went as planned this weekend. I wanted to clean the house, decorate and spend time relaxing. Instead, my dishes are piling up because I forgot to turn on the dishwasher. I left my phone on silent, so I overslept by two hours. My house is not organized and clean--it spells disaster from one end to another. Thanksgiving is mere days away, and I still haven't made my shopping list. And more than likely, if you rang my door bell, I wouldn't answer because my hair looks akin to a porcupine.
But, that's life. I don't always have it together. Sometimes I lose perspective, lose my temper, and lose my focus. Today, I'm counting my blessings in a different way.
I am thankful for dirty dishes. Because in some homes, there are no dishes to put away.
I am thankful for my messy home. Because for some, there is no place to go home to.
I am thankful for hair that needs to be washed. For some, they have lost their hair to illness.
I am thankful for tears. For some, they can shed no more.
I am thankful for the good, the bad, the ugly. It's the life lessons in each moment that makes me stronger, more grateful and certainly more humbled than ever before.

What about you? What are you thankful for today?

what a great post! it is so true that we have to be thankful in everything, even the things that have us down because at least we can feel that emotion.
thank you for giving me a different perspective today.
have a blessed day!
wow, really beautiful colors in that shot!
We're definitely on the same wavelength today. I couldn't write a happy cheery post today either, but I still found things to be thankful for. Thank you for encouraging me -- nice to know I'm not alone.
Wow, I am in tears after reading this. I've been feeling kind of down today because my house is a disaster, and I have a huge test tomorrow that I haven't studied much for and I haven't even begun Thanksgiving preparations. Usually by this time my house is halfway decorated for Christmas! But your post put things in perspective for me. I have so much to be thankful for even when everything feels chaotic!
I am so very thankful for my baby girl this Thanksgiving....especially since this time last year I didn't know if being a mommy was even a reality. :)
Love you, and can't wait to see you in a few weeks!
I am thankful for you and your post today! As I sit here battling DM waiting for all the cards to be put in place for my nurse to do infusions in home I have been counting my blessings as well. I still have so much to be thankful for even though I am going through so much, I have the hubs, my Kelcee, my wonderful team of Dr.s, like you said a house full of dishes in which I forget to run the dishwasher all to often too lol...I got this magnet to go on mine that says clean and dirty and I still sometimes forget lol, and I am so thankful for this sweet post that made me be even more thankful today. How sweet of you to be thankful for your hair today...it made me cry that you were so thankful for that you are so sweet...with mine coming out more and more each day...i really thought that was an awesome thing for you to say...

such a great post.. the picture is beautiful.. I hope you have a blessed day. :)
I LOVE this! I'm too am thankful for real life, where it's messy and loud and it sometimes takes 20 minutes to scrub the food out from under the kitchen table.
Because people who love eachother live here, and have food to eat, and that's worth thanking Him for.
{hugs} and good luck with your grocery shopping, I'm going to get out tomorrow and finish mine *gulp*.
I absolutely love this!!!!!!!!!!! :)
Thank you for being real! I didn't get as much accomplished last weekend as I hoped, and I'm behind on preparing for Thanksgiving too. Eve so, there is still much to be thankful for.

Happy Thanksgiving...
Completely agree with your list. :) hope your day gets better.
It is good to be raw sometimes with others. Especially as a Mother it is so easy to look at other Mom's and families and think they have it all together, but really were just all doing the best we can!
Congratulations on finding the silver lining. I love you photographs. Beautiful
Love the honesty lady!!! All the bad in our lives can be turned into good!!
What a great reminder to be thankful even in the rough times. Thank you!
Beautiful post - so wonderful to show that even in our less than great times we can still be thankful - We are to be thankful IN all things - not FOR all things, but IN and there is ALWAYS something in every situation to be thankful for!! Thanks for this post!!! :)
I'm a long-time reader but don't always comment. I really need to see this honesty, but the positive spin on all of it today. Thanks so much.
so true, and such a lovely shot. I know I always feel better when I have a grateful heart. kaye—the road goes ever ever on
Beautiful post lovely. It's good to be thankful, even when things don't go as planned. I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving Day and have some time to relax this weekend. xoxo.
Beautiful photo and post!
LOVE!! Love the honesty.
*Sigh*, yes indeed. It's very worth it to just...let it go. A true value I'm learning as a mother, to just....let it go.
I want to give you a hug! We've all been there and it is awesome that you can see the good in the "bad."
I love this!! It's nice to see something honest and open!
