When I was 16 years old, I fell head over heals in love with fiesta. The bright colors, the pattern, the simplicity...it was very much "me". So each year for my birthday, or Christmas, my mother would buy me a set. Eventually, when I moved out on my own, I would collect the plates. Then, as we were getting our reigstiry ready at Dillard's, I knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that I wanted Fiesta to be our every day setting to use. When I open my cabinets, and see all the beautiful colors, I can't help but think my 16 year old wish came true. Truth be told, pulling out my fiesta makes me feel just a bit "50's Housewife-ish". At first Josh wasn't it to them, until I showed him how the setting looks when you mix them up. Since then, he has remarked how fun...and down right festive these dishes are!! Any of fiesta ladies out there?
Since I got my way in the area of Fiesta, I let Josh choose our color of Kitchen Aid. Of course, he had to pick out the Copper version. Which, I do love...just a bit on the pricey side. Imagine how shocked we were to come home one day and find this package on our door step!! It was truly a wonderful wedding gift...and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it!
When it came time to pick out the China...we took forever. We both liked entirely different styles. Then, I spotted the Lauren by Ralph Lauren Pattern of "Romance" that was not on the display shelf. It was on it's own table in different area. We both loved it, and it was finally settled. Since then we have enjoyed dinner parties with this china. My southern roots really show up, because china is an absolute must in my book. I even carried around a small set when I was single, to serve my friends whenever I hosted a dinner party. I realize this is not so popular anymore...but nothing seems more special or romantic than a table set with Fine China.
Our most recent addition to our kitchen was a set of Copper Cookware made by The Palm Restaurant. This was definitely Josh's splurge. However, since using them, I have honestly fallen in love with these. They are wonderful to cook with. I was also smiling when I saw the copper pots in the movie Julia & Julia...look closely, they are on the back of the stove!
And speaking of Julia...it was this movie that inspired this post. I watched again for the second time this week, and loved it better this time around! I'm inspired to try Beef Bourguignon, or maybe a few other recipes. Have you ladies cooked anything by her yet? Were you inspired to spend more time in the kitchen after the movie? I know I have been."Dining with one's friends and beloved family is certainly one of life's primal and most innocent delights, one that is both soul-satisfying and eternal." -- Julia Child

I love Fiesta too... so many bright and fun colors. I LOVE cooking but I especially like looking at cool kitchen gadgets. What a fun post :) Thanks for sharing! I can't wait to get wedding gifts to fill our future kitchen with :) xoxo.
I LOVE my bright red KitchenAid stand mixer - the perfect Christmas present from my hubby one year :)
I have the Calphalon Tri-Ply stainless set, which I love as well.
And I got a new set of china from my family for my birthday - the original pattern we picked out was hard to find and is now discontinued, and we only have 3 place settings of it - so my new one, which my mom found at a home consignment store, has 8 place settings, plus extra pieces. It was perfect!
I love the look of the Copper! Fiesta is definitely one of my favorites. I'm a huge fan of bold colors.
Ethan came home with an industrial size Kitchen Aid mixer in an almond color. I despised how big and ugly the thing was and now... it's my best friend haha. It grew on me but I still wish he chose a different color!! :)
Great items! I'm not gonna lie, registering has become one of my favorite aspects of being engaged! I love cooking, baking and entertaining so it's like a dream for me! :) I really like the Fiesta Carribbean color! I'm not sure what they call it, but that's my favorite. We're not registering for that dinnerware though.
Some of my favorite items are the kitchenaid mixer, sadly the pretty martha stewart aqua blue I wanted is discontinued but I will probably settle for white so it will match everything, even years from now. I also really want a corn zipper (strange I know), and a nice pot and pans set! My sister and bridesmaids are hosting a kitchen themed shower for me and I'm so excited! :)
copper cookware is the best kind! i don't have any but i used to work in a kitchen store and we'd always recommend it. i adore my stand mixer, too! fiesta ware rocks!
i want a kitchen aid SO BAD!!!
these are all such great items!! i love the fiesta and all the fun colors!!
I LOVE Fiestaware! My aunt collects it and growing up I was always hearing her rave about it. When I needed to start picking out my own dishes I found myself going towards bright colors and bold patterns- similar to Fiesta! I don't have any yet, but I'm hoping to get some in our registry.
I am in love with Fiestaware too! my "canvas" if you will, is the Cobolt, and then I have the other colors in accent pieces and serving bowls. My also have the Cobolt Kitchen Aid mixer that I adore! :)
Love the Fiesta- so fun! We have some awesome mixing bowls and I love the color of our dinnerware it's a pretty sage green with a silver/grayish. We also have a bunch of the silicone items too, which are great!
I love Fiestaware! I have 12 placesettings in Turquoise, it's big in my family! My mom has a few sets in Rose, Sunflower, and Turquoise; and my Aunt has Colbalt. :)
The kitchen is definately my space. My husband doesn't cook so he pretty much let me pick everything. We have a lot of torquiose in our kitchen. My kitchen aide is torquoise with a matching toaster, hand mixer. Then I have a tea kettle, recipe box, colonder, and lots of utencils that are the Martha Stewart torquiose. It makes for a very bright and happy kitchen!
I love using nice china when there is company! I wish more people did it. :)
My Kitchen Aid is a must have, though if it ever croaks, I will probably get a Bosch. And copper cook ware is wonderful, my MIL has it and it cooks so nicely. I have an all-clad stainless set, which I love. And plenty of cast iron skillets. Never will I cook on non stick, again! My favorite dishes are Corelle - mostly because they're indestructible. Stoneware and I don't get along too well. :P
Great post!! Wish we would have got fiesta.. but I am happy with the plateware we DO have :) I LOVE MY PINK KITCHENAID. It was the one thing I wanted the most... ooh, it was a joy to recieve from my bridesmaids!! Cute copper one :)
I'm drooling over your kitchen aid! I want one so bad!! I do agree that a splurge on good pans is a smart thing to do. I love my pans :)
My mom has fiesta and I love it!
love the fiesta!
Yes, I LOVE kitchen stuff! And the awesome thing is, my fiance also enjoys cooking (though mostly with me, LOL.....he HAS initiated cooking entire meals by himself as a treat for me during our dating life and that was fun!). So, we are both highly interested in kitchen appliances and cookware, as well as dining sets and glassware, etc.
We are even MORE interested now that we are engaged and in the process of picking a wedding date, etc. and setting up registries.
I really like your copper Kitchen Aid mixer, Heather! I SO want one of those, I grew up with one and it was amazing for whenever we were baking or making homemade whipped cream. :) A must-have! I also just purchased for myself (a couple months prior to being engaged) an entire set of Paula Deen Stainless Steel cookware with copper bottoms. The only teflon pans are the skillets, but I can deal with those for now. They appear to be very high quality, and I got them on an outrageous sale!! LOL Haven't used them yet, though. Excited to!
Thanks for sharing on your kitchen loves!! :)
Rachel aka Lady Sunshine
I love all your dinner ware!! Fiesta is so fun. I was just admiring a store that carried them this past weekend. :)
My grandma has fiesta stuff and she was threatening to get rid of it... I begged her to give it to me. But she ended up keeping it!! :(
I love fiesta and copper pots too!
And I have been thinking about trying that dish of Julia's soon, too!
ooou wee...copper cookware...I am jealous!
Smooches,
Sassy Chica
Wow! Where do I even begin! LOL! My fav things have to be my le cresuet cookware, my new seasoning containers ( super cute from Targe) and my cookie jars. I will have to show a pic of them someday! Great post girlie! Love ya
I would LOVE to cook something by Julia Child! I thought the movie was so fun, and both my husband and I love to cook. I think it'd be really fun if a bunch of people from the blogging world each did a Julia recipe and shared it. I think I'll have to wait on that, though, until we're done with moving!
I love Fiesta! My mom's BFF had it and I always thought it was the best thing. One day when we're done with living in an apt I am getting Feista.
I wish I could register again and get all the neat things out right now!
My best friend just got married and registered for the Fiesta line...I had never seen it till then, it's SO neat! There are so many things you could do with that!
Top thing on my kitchen wishlist would be that mixeer!
I have never seen Fiesta before but must check it out now. I love the beautiful colors.
All your kitchen stuff is gorgeous.
I am a struggling young adult who grduated college last year so needless to say I dont have any awesome kitchen supplies... One day, hopefully soon.
I just discovered your blog and I like it:)
My folks promised me a Kitchen Aid when I got married and I absolutely love it! And my Panini press, which is da bomb!
I always dreamed of having Fiesta but just don't have the room for it in our small house. Maybe someday! It's so bright and cheeful and does make amazing looking place-settings!
Oh I love a Kitchen Aid! I use mine all the time.
I adore my microplane! I use it for zesting lemons and grating parmasan cheese -- both of which are staples around here. Yesterday I used it to zest an orange for carrot cookies. (yum)
Those are great kitchen items. I always wanted to have colorful damask or paisley dinnerware but my husband won't have it so we have just a normal kind. I love my hand mixer and rabbit wine opener because I use those often.
Oh, the fiesta dishes are fabulous! I love them. and the copper cookware looks so nice too!
My dishes are square with a green and brown leafy/stripey design on them. They were just "me". I pick out dishes based on what seems to fit my personality best too!
Love Fiesta ware! I have never used my everyday...may need to sell it for some Fiesta!
The copper cookware is gorgeous!! I have one really really nice frying pan (those things are SO expensive here) and my other pans and pots are ok but nothing special... one day I'll have copper pans like that :)
xx
I loved that movie! Have you read the book? It inspired me so much. I love to cook, but often times would not try a new recipe because my kitchen is so small and there is so little counter space. Her kitchen was even smaller than my apartment kitchen and look at all the food she tried! I'm trying to get more creative with space and braver at tackling more involved recipes.
I want the pink kitchenaid mixer so bad! Wish I had more time to cook :-/
Great post!
xoxo Bardot in Blue
I had not heard of Fiesta until a couple of years ago!
I too love my stand mixer!! And I hope to have beautiful copper pots someday!
They aren't super pretty but I use my George Foreman and my Kitchenaid mini chopper all the time!
I am a Fiesta girl too. My kids love to mix them up. And I cannot imagine life without my Kitchen Aid we knew we wanted a big family, so we got a big one. I am so glad we did. We use that thing all the time!
Heather,
I love fiesta too! When I was 17 (I think) my parents got me ten place settings for Christmas!!! Now I get to use it in our own little apartment. It is just so cheerful! And easy to wash which is a good thing since we have no dishwasher....oh wait that is me.
We still haven't really settled on cookware. I got a double boiler for our wedding but nothing else. So my Grandma gave me an old pot and my mil loaned me a dutch oven so we are in good shape.
I LOVE Fiestaware! Don't have any, but the colors are so fun and cheerful :-)
Nice site, nice and easy on the eyes and great content too.
