World Of Classics

Old movies are the best, I think. I can't seem to watch enough of them! I recently purchased and watch the film noir "Sunset Boulevard" for the first time. I'm in the mood for new classics that I have yet to see.. So, I had to put together a few of my all time favorite classic movies...to see if you would agree, disagree, or add to the list...

How To Steal A Million: Starring Audrey Hepburn and Peter O'Toole. I don't know much about Mr. O'Toole, but his performance in this movie was nothing short of stellar. Probably one of my favorite romantic love comedies of all time! I loved the story line, the setting, the clothes, the humor...just loved it all.

It's A Wonderful Life: I don't know what there is to say that you probably don't already know, except the fact that simply adore Mr. Stewart, especially his role in this movie.

Casablanca: One of the few movies of Humphrey Bogart that I truly enjoy. I don't necessarily dislike the man, he just never made it to my favorites list. This movie takes me by surprise from the beginning to the end, making it a bit on the mysterious side...

Charade: I don't know how it can get much better having both Hepburn AND Carey. Stellar performances, and frankly I just loved this movie. And her clothes. I want all her clothes from this movie! Ha!

That Darn Cat: Okay, I'll be honest. I can't even begin top tell you how many times I've watched this movie! And every single time I just about die laughing. And I couldn't tell you why, except that I find Dean Jones to be down right hysterical. Hysterical I tell you!

So, tell me...what are your favorite classics?

I've been meaning to watch those Audrey movies, so I guess I'll have to get around to that sooner! I absolutely LOVE Casablanca. It's my second favorite behind Gone with the Wind. I'm also a fan of just about any Grace Kelly movie, although To Catch a Thief is my favorite (Grant & Kelly plus Hitchcock & Edith Head costumes!!). Wizard of Oz and West Side Story are on my list, as well.

If you like Hayley Mills, try to find The Truth About Spring; it's my favorite. Cary Grant's The Easy Way is another and Jimmy Stewart? ANYTHING.

I love older musicals....I used to watch them all the time, not so much anymore, I really should start watching them again. I love "Showboat", "On Moonlight Bay", "Calamity Jane", "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers", and so many more.

"Singin' In the Rain" is one of my all-time favorites! Marx Brothers films are hilarious, "It Happened One Night" with Clark Gable and "Roman Holiday" with Audrey Hephurn are wonderful! "Trouble with Angels" the old Hayley Mills film is pretty funny too.

I guess you can tell I'm an old-movie-junkie too! :)

My hubby always makes fun of me for not having see all the classics. I just need to find the time to watch these classic movies...I enjoy the ones I have seen very much...especially for the clothes. Classics have a different feel to them than the new blockbusters and I appreciate that a lot!

I just love Audrey. I have a shirt with her face on it.
As for my old movies, that's mostly all I watch. I like Doris Day, and James Dean is perfect. Any Audrey is lovely, and Gigi is cute too.
