The memories of each trip stay with me. I look at my pictures almost on a weekly basis to somehow lock the memories forever.
The girl in the pink and green shirt approached me along with some of her family members. They kept asking me questions over and over...none of us could figure out what they were saying. We found the translator and asked them to come where we were, to figure what it was they wanted from me. They were asking me to take their daughter to America. I'm pretty sure my heart broke into a million pieces.
Sometimes, it's just good to remember. To relive the memories that had a part in changing your heart...to opening your eyes to the desperation and heartbreak around the world.
I never want to forget their faces.
"When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. 1I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it." And he took the children in his arms, put his hands on them and blessed them." --Matthew 10:14-16

What a beautiful post sweetie and I too love their faces. Their is something so precious about children and their kind and beautiful spirits.
They are so beautiful! I would love to hear about some of the places you've been. I went to Ethiopia in 2008, and I left a piece of my heart there.
yes, beautiful.. but heart breaking all the same..
mmmmm... remembering is SO important! Thank you for this post!
It is amazing how much we can be impacted by experiences and people we meet. And it's even sweeter to know that we also made a lasting impact on them and their lives.
Aw :) I took a few mission trips and met kids just like these. They are in my mind & heart every day :)
Heartbreaking indeed... There is so much need... and if we all at least tried to remember that (like you do) everybody would probably be less selfish... and complained less... I think...
Beautiful post!
Paloma.

i admire your mission work! i hope to someday be able to do the same...and that verse is one of my very favorite and i try to live my life by it as best as i can...thank you for this awesome post!
I so can relate. I've been on many missions trips and that is what I ask God. I can't remember all the details or names, but help me not to forget their faces. Ones that are so precious to God. And it's cool...b/c even w/o names, their faces come to mind. And we can still pray.
Sometimes, I don't remember the face but when/where I was when we interacted, and that helps, too.
Awesome post.
