I found this book on sale at Mardels. I've heard so much about it from friends, that I finally decided to read it. An amazing story of forgiveness and sacrifice!
Plain Truth was first up for my winter reading. This was my first Picoult book, and I enjoyed it immensely. The ending was so unexpected, I had to re-read the last few pages to get it in my head. All the joy of mystery & suspense a girl could ask for.

Sundays At Tiffany's was a quick, fun read. I enjoyed the book, but can't say it fell anywhere near the favorites category.

I picked up Against All Odds while shopping at a little book store in Branson.I'd never heard of Irene Hannon before, so it was yet another first author for me! This was probably my favorite book out of the stack. If you are an avid Dee Henderson fan, you'll probably love it. :)

This morning, I finished up My Sister's Keeper. Again, Picoult shocked me with the ending. I'd managed to keep myself from renting the movie...as I really wanted to read the book first. It was definitely an emotional and heart wrenching book.
So, what have you been reading? Now that I finished my stack, I need some new recommendations!

PS. I spruced up the Recipes page, just in case anyone wants to make Double Chocolate Peanut Butter Cookies or Homemade Oreos... ;-)

43 Sweet Comments!:
I love My Sister's Keeper!! I haven't read the others though. You go girl for reading recently! I can't seem to find the time to read with school and everything!
I posted about books this week too! I haven't read any of yours yet though! Just finished Bitter is the New Black by Jen Lancaster. Visiting from SITS! :)
Oh I should put Sister's Keeper on hold at the library! I usually wait until after a movie to read the book cause otherwise the movie isn't good. Thanks for this post! I need to pick up a book at the library this weekend and have been too lazy to look on goodreads.com. You should check that site out and we could be friends and recomend books to each other. We have similar book taste. Good idea for a post too! I have heard good things about Picoult. I am going to go pick up Plain Truth this weekend as my first one of hers too!
Nothing is better than a good book! You have some of my choices in your library :) Enjoy & happy reading, SITSta!
You're going to be really disappointed with the ending in the My Sister's Keeper movie. COMPLETELY different than the book. And I'll leave it at that....
I love to buy books. I never give myself the time to sit and read. I am home almost all the time. I blog and watch movies. I need to start a pattern of reading each day. I have My Sister's Keeper to read, I did watch the movie. Sometimes I like to read the book after a movie because I have a face with the person. I did that with The Bridges of Madison County years ago and really enjoyed it. Sometimes I read a book that I just love and will pick out the people to play the roles if it was made into a movie.
I love James Patterson books. I haven't read this one though I'll have to check it out. Thanks for the suggestions.
aah, i loved my sister's keeper, and haven't been able to watch the movie yet, just because i loved the book so much. when the movie characters don't match up with the visions in my head [ooh, goodness. i swear i'm not a crazy person.] it makes the movie hard to watch, and cameron diaz just doesn't work for me.
i also loved bitter is the new black, and anything else by jen lancaster. she rocks.
i have been reading every kay scarpetta book i can get my hands on. patricia cornwell is the author, and she has like 20 of them. if you like CSI and those shows, check them out!
I love Jodie Picult... and I just got my sisters keeper for school...def excited..
I loved My Sister's Keeper and Redeeming Love! I just ordered the movie MSK so that I can watch it as well. I have the last book in the Twilight series on my nightstand and the book Lovely Bones!
Have a great weekend. Just stopping by from SITS to say Hello.
I love Jodi Picoult. I'm reading The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society and I like it. The weirdest title ever, but it's a great book so far. I LOVE Jen Lancaster (recommended by Mighty M in her comment!) She is hilarious and quite real!
I've read all those - and loved them - except for Against All Odds!
I loved Plain Truth the most, though!
I love Francine Rivers! I also like Sophie's Heart by Lori Wick. I'm currently reading a classic, "Little Dorrit" by Charles Dickens.
You are right - these books are great reads! So far I have read Redeeming Love and My Sister's Keeper. Both tearjerkers and great books! Thanks for the review sweetie, have a great weekend!
Francine Rivers is great :-) I haven't read any Jodi Picoult, but I keep hearing good things about her.
Right now I'm reading "Perfecting Kate". It's really good! I think I'll probably review it later on my blog, if I ever find the time!
How in the world do you find time to read BOOKS??? It's all I can do these days to stay on top of the blogs I subscribe to!
I've read Redeeming Love and My Sister's Keeper. I LOVED both. I definitely want to read more from Francine Rivers and Jodi Picoult!
I really want to read my sisters keeper! It sounds so great!
I've read My Sisters Keeper, Plain Truth and Sundays @ Tiffanys! Big Jodi Picoult fan!
Redeeming Love is one of my favorites--read it *years* ago.
I have been meaning to read a couple of the others you mentioned as well. One of these days...
I read My Sister's Keeper a few years ago and just rented the movie. I was shocked how it ended to! I have an award for you on my blog! :)
Thanks for joining my blog! Hope to see many comments from you in the future :)
ALL of Jodi Picoult's books are really good. Aside from the ones you've read, my other favorites are Nineteen Minutes (about a school shooting) and her latest one Change of Heart (can't sum that one up in a couple of words). I know you're into suspense, but if you ever just want a chick-flick type of book to read, Mary Kay Andrews writes some really cute ones. She's from GA, so she uses a lot of Southern terms that only people living in the South would get. My favorite of hers were The Fixer Upper and Hissy Fit. Good luck!!
Show, comment my blog, thanks
Good list! :) I enjoy Francine Rivers' books. Have you read "The Last Sin Eater?" It makes me cry, but it's very good. I also love Hidden Places, by Lynn Austin. It's set in the Great Depression...she does some flashback stories that are really good! :)
Redeeming Love is hands down one of the best books on the planet! I read it almost straight through - such an AMAZING story!
Did you read The Memory Keeper's Daughter?? I just bought this novel just now..
I'm going to have to read some of those!
LOVE Redeeming Love!! One of my favs~
Redeeming Love is one of my fave books of all time! I have read it at least five times, and I will probably read it again soon. It just never gets old! I have a couple other books like that, too... Julie Lessman is a newer author and one of my favorites. You should check out her "Daughters of Boston" series. The first one in the series (A Passion Most Pure) is another one of those books I have read over and over--so good!
My Sisters rave about Redeeming Love. I thought Sundays at Tiffany's was a fun read too. Never read any by Picoult, I may have to start.
I've been trying to do the same with My Sisters Keeper... Going to have to drive to town and pick up a copy I think!
I didn't like the movie of my sisters keeper. I've been reading a lot of finances books actually. odd. but it makes me feel both sexy and smart. :D xx
"Before I Wake" by Dee Henderson is next on my list to read -- it's coming on vacation with me! I'm just finishing "Master your Metabolism" by Jillian Michaels which has been incredibly informative!
Happy reading! :)
LOVED LOVED LOVED “Redeeming Love”. I could go back and read that again. Love James Patterson books. I have heard a lot about Picoult. I will have to pick up one of her books!
Redeeming Love is one of my all time favorites!!
My sister's keeper is a tear jerker... oh, my! talk about the water works during that one.
we're reading the Shack right now.
I admire you.
You read so much.
I wanna be like you when I grow up.
Stopping over from SITS!
First off, the names of the cookies you added recipes for sound AMAZING! I have to check them out!
I've never read a Jodi Picoult book. I know, crazy right? I think just about every woman in this country has! I'm reading Michael Pollan's book "An Omnivore's Dilemma." A bit different from what you've been reading, but very interesting!
Have a great day!
I'm 3/4 of the way done with Redeeming Love :) It is really good!
The last few books I have read were all really good. The Help by Kathrine Stockett, A Homemade Life by Molly Wizenburg, and Eva Luna by Isabelle Allende. Right now I'm reading Someone Knows My name by Lawrence Hill which is amazing. I can't put it down.
Oh man, who doesn't LOVE Redeeming love???? And Irene Hannon's Against All Odds is wonderful too! Been wanting to read Jodi Picoult as well, but heard she's more of a women's ficton author, and I am blatantly into romance in a BIG way. You know, the kind with God smack dab in the middle, like Redeeming Love.
Which brings me to the point of my comment, Mrs. Southern Bride -- I wrote the Daughters of Boston Series that one of your commenters, Kelly, mentioned above (THANK YOU, KELLY, WHEREVER YOU ARE!!), and I would love to send you a complimentary copy of the first book, A Passion Most Pure, if you are at all interested. It's a lot like Redeeming Love in that it is one of the edgiest romance novels in the Christian market today, and what I mean by that is that it is more sensual than most, but also more spiritual too.
If you are interested in receiving a signed copy from me, I would LOVE to send you one, so please let me know through my website at Julie Lessman, okay?
Great blog, by the way!
Hugs,
Julie
Didn't you love Redeeming Love??? I'm not even joking, it changed my life.
I loved My Sister's Keeper!! I'm reading "Not My Daughter" by Barbara Delinsky which is somewhat like the tv movie that was just on. It's interesting though!
