My Rebellious Confession...

This is the post that I wanted to title "Rebellious Housewife Confessions". But that would have been a mouthful, right? But, I digress...My confession is brought on by my last post regarding our living room table. Because you see, the pretty flower decor was not adorning the table yesterday...until I decided to take the picture. In reality, my Willow Tree Manger set was still on it. But I was at a crossroads...one where if I took the picture of the manger set yall would have labeled me one of the "those" women... the kind that never take down their Christmas trees. But, can you blame me? Isn't my tree just gorgeous??? (said with much humility!!)

In fact over the weekend we were visited by my awesome brothers and sister in laws. They were coming over to share in Creamy, Garlicky, Alfredo Tortellini and watch a movie. So as I was busy buying groceries for the fun affair, hubby was at home cleaning the house (don't worry I went home to clean too). Then he decided to call me and suggest that he take down the Christmas decorations. "NOOOOOOOO....you CAN'T do that" I screamed into the phone, nearly falling apart in hysterics. I all but threatened to ban him from pasta for entire month- to let him know I was serious. Dead serious!!!

But, today there is this inner voice telling me it really is time to take it down. If we have company and they see that I'm still staring at my pretty Eiffel tower ornament, they might be afraid to visit me again. Even if I do offer them giant mugs of cocoa, topped with whip cream...

So this afternoon I'll embark on the painful procedure of taking down the Christmas decorations...but not before I cuddle up one last time with my Christmas blanket, watching a Christmas themed movie, and eat another handful of double chocolate peanut butter cookies...

Like I said. I'm being a little rebellious housewife in this one little department. I hope yall still like me after finding out this confession...

I like rebellious!!

I agree with Lindsey!

How could we NOT like you!! You're a doll and it's okay to be rebellious.

If I had it my way, our tree would still be up. Ours came down prematurely on NYE to make more room in the living room for friends to mingle & congregate. It's sad taking down the holiday ornaments. :(

Katiellirb said...

I really want a Willow Tree Nativity set!! Anywho, my rule is take the Christmas decor down the weekend after New Years, so this year is a bit tricky. I say you're still ok!

Katie said...

ughhh NOOOO! Don't take it down!

I still have mine up! haha :)

Lucy Marie said...

You're still okay. It's the people who still have their Christmas stuff on display in February who worry me! Especially outdoor lights - I can understand not wanting to take them down until the weather is nicer, but why plug them in? Just leave them turned off and no one will know they are still up.

you are so funny!!

i took mine down 2 days after christmas... hehe!

i was finished and done!!!

It's ok to be rebellious sometimes!! And that ornament is adorable. :)

Seriously, I'd leave up Christmas all year round if I could, haha!!!! We still love you :)

Mrs. G.I. Joe said...

Haha...I don't think that's too rebellious :) Christmas is a state of mind, not just a date on a calendar.

I once left our trees and decorations up till September. But G.I. Joe was in Iraq then so I was all messed up in the head :P

LOVE your Eiffle Tower ornament!

Katie said...

I agree; I love rebellious too!

My son always cries when the tree comes down. He gets so attached to it! :D

If I had put decorations up this year, I'd be right there with you. But since we were out of town for Christmas, we forced ourselves to skip it. What a bummer!!

Anne said...

Yes, we still like you. ;)
And if I had such a cool Eiffel tower ornament, I'd be rebellious too.

Perfectly Imperfect said...

I would so still have mine up right with you, but I think my nesting kicked in this year! I took it all down on Christmas night (gasp!) because I thought the tree was too messy! That has never happened before! But usually... mine would easily still be up!

keep it up for as long as you want! =) my wreaths are still on my front door!

Jessica said...

I have a really hard time taking down my Christmas ornaments too...it's so sad!

I would NOT have taken mine down if I did not now live with someone who I'd rather not think I was crazy. I think last year's stayed up until February. =) I just LOVE the lights and sparkle of Christmas!

I still have SOME of mine up! Just the beautiful RED decor. I am saving it for VALENTINES DAY! : ) My house always looks so NAKED without it. SIGH*

Stopping by from SITS!!!

Sigh, I took my Christmas tree down last week, January 2nd, like always. It's always done begrudgingly, but this year, it needed to be done... I was tired of patrolling it on a daily (hourly) basis looking for ornaments my toddler had broken, and after Christmas day, I needed the space for all her new presents!!!

Beautiful blog-- and did you really wear red shoes at your wedding? I wore yellow... love it!

Happy SITS day. Some people leave the tree up and change the ornaments for each season of the year. Not for me! Saturday I started to feel like the thing was rotting in our living room (and we have an artificial tree!). It HAD to come down.

Happy SITS day! Love your post! I used to leave mine up until New Year's day every year, but since I started working with the school system, I try to get everything put away early while I'm on my break! If I didn't, it would probably be February before I had a chance to do it again!
