No, this post is not about who's got the biggest bling. I was wondering, what you ladies recommend using for cleaning your ring. I was told Windex, and it does a pretty good job. I just thought I'd compare notes...

So, how do you clean your wedding/engagement or any other ring? Help this southern bride out! ;-)
30 Sweet Comments!:
I have a ring cleaner that they gave us when we bought our rings. I'm still using it three years later.
Go to the actually place!! Whenever I'm at the mall or shopping, they do it for free. I loveee when they spray clean rather than using the liquid cleaner at home.
toothpaste! : D
My MIL and grandma's swear by it and they passed the secret on to me!
My mom says to use a baby toothbrush and put a tiny bit of toothpaste on it.
Most jewelers will clean their rings for free! Just go back to where you bought it and see if they'll do it for you. :)
I use a ring cleaner that the jewelry store gave to us, but I have been hearing the same thing about Windex. I'm thinking of trying it. I wish I had one of those at home steamer things that cleans it!
I drop by the jewelers every few weeks. They clean my ring for free forever. :)
We have a ring cleaner that uses banana oil and LOVE it!
I bought one of those sonic jewelry cleaners (you can't put softer stones in them, like emeralds, but they're perfect for diamonds)!
I use the ring cleaning stuff in the red container. I bought it at the PX here in Germany! I had a lot of detail on my ring. The little brush REALLY gets the job done.. Now you have me in the mood to clean my ring. Thanks alot! :P
By the way... That's quite the ring you have there! BEAUTIFUL! :)
According to a good friend who works at IGI (the most trusted), the best way to clean a diamond is with 2 parts vinegar, 1 part water. Detergent or soap actally leave a film that makes dirt and grease CLING to your precious stone.
I have heard toothpaste works great!
I've never tried Windex, but I think I will use it next time I clean.
To get a good cleaning, I will go to the jeweler. But, for "between" times I mix a little ammonia with water and just let it soak for a bit.
I've heard toothpaste is good too, but never tried it.
i just came across your blog, I just drop my ring off at the jeweler when I go shopping to get it cleaned by them. I need to get some ring cleaner or something though since its only once a month or so that I go and I really like my rings sparkly! :)
Every time I go to the Mall, I stop by Zales. They do ring cleaning for Freeeeeee! :o)
I usually just stop by Kays in the mall and have them to do. I did that on Saturday and it is so pretty now! I hadn't thought about windex. Hmm...I may try it.
All interesting ideas. My jeweler is a small jeweler and too far away. So I use jewelry cleaner I got for free. However, I have heard of alcohol, but I am scared to try it.
If you get one of those little jewlery cleaners with the basket that plugs in, it works really well for all your jewelry. Mine always looks brand new!
We stop by the jewelers, they have unlimited cleanings!
I always steal my Mom's ring cleaner that she got from the jeweler. Ah ha
My husband bought me an ultrasonic cleaner for my jewlery! Gets it all Bling-Y again! (wink! wink)
I have heard toothpaste!
I take it to Kay's =)
toothpaste! and a old toothbrush are what I swear by.
steam cleaners ROCK! No seriously they are AMAZING!
In between jewelry store cleans, I use a cleaner they gave me and I use my hair dryer to dry the ring. This is similar to the method that the jeweler uses and prevents water spots!
omg your ring is so gorgeous!
Beautiful ring. I actually bought some gizmo that is a steamer like the pros use. Isn't that funny!
By the way was it hard figuring out how to a button? I want one:)
