How we spent our 4th....
I made homemade Oreos. They were good. Very good. My brothers said so...and that my dear friends, is quite the compliment coming from them. ;-) Homemade oreos are now a favorite.
I found this recipe, and made some changes to fit our tastebuds... :) LOVE that blog!

Homemade Oreos!
1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup + 2 Tablespoons Hershey's Baking Cocoa
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 1/4 Cups Sugar
1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons (1 1/4 sticks) room-temperature, unsalted butter
1 large egg
The Filling
1/2 Cup of butter or margerine
1/1/2 cups sifted confectioners’ sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Preheat to 375°F. Mix dry ingredients until blended, adding softened butter and egg until a thick dough forms. Spoon dough onto cooking sheet 1-2 inches apart. Drop by the teaspoon. Bake 9 minutes. Let the cookies cool completely.
Mix butter sugar and vanilla until fluffy. Chill in fridge.
Once the cookies are cool, lather up with filling and make the Oreo sandwich cookies!
These cookies are best kept in sealed container, and dipped in milk!
Enjoy the homeade oreos!
