Chocolate to a Woman...

If there is one memory I have of my grandma cooking, it's the infamous "Double Chocolate Cake". She made it for birthday's or special get togethers. Years after grandma passed away, my wonderful mom set out on a quest to track down the recipe. Luckily, my uncle Kevin knew it by heart.

Soon, my mom began preparing the mouth watering, beautiful, amazing, heart stopping chocolate cake. I've never met a person who didn't like it. Even my darling fiance, who tries to convince me that he doesn't like sweets (even though he inhales cupcakes like they are perfect cuts of fillet Mignon), enjoyed the cake. My mom made it for him when he came over one night. Then a few weeks ago, I made the cake recipe, except I turned the batter into cupcakes, instead of cake. And he liked them.

There is something special about family "hand me down" recipes. They are rich in flavor, rich in history, and rich in calories...but we'll just forget that part.

In case you are just itching for a oh so good chocolate lovers recipe, I'll share...

Grandma's Double Chocolate Cake

1 box Fudge Cake mix
1 box chocolate pudding
1 cup chocolate chips
1 cup white chocolate chips
1 cup pecans
1 tsp vanilla

Fix the cake mix according to directions on box. Add remaining ingredients. Bake at 350 until the cake is "set" in the center. Top with home-made whip cream or Vanilla bean Ice Cream....and may your chocolate craving be satisfied.

On a note about chocolate: the other day my dear fiance bought a small chocolate bar. He handed it to me. The wrapper said "Emergency Chocolate". Perfect for my purse. He's such a sweetie. =) And awful cute at that...

"Chocolate to a woman is what ___is to a man." You can fill in that part with whatever you think suits your man. *smile*

So, what are some favorite "hand me down" recipes that you treasure?

aww thanks so much for sharing. I will definately try it out. I'm a sucker for anything chocolate.

Chocolate is to women like beer is to a man. I absolutely love the taste of chocolate, it completes a meal. To my boyfriend, eating a meal of hamburger and fries would be complete with a bottle of beer. He likes the taste.

Have fun counting down the days:) I'm excited for you!

Aw what a great story and yummy looking recipe! My mama has a chocolate sheet-cake recipe that my great-grandma used to make for her all of the time. She makes it for my birthday every year and it is so neat to be tied to generations of women in my fam.
